It's time to move on...

Apr. 5th, 2011

I cannot believe it's only Tuesday. The amount of running around I've been doing this week already, I'm good and prepared for the weekend now. It's a good thing that I like my job, or I'd be encouraging the witches of Britain to stop having babies and cut the workload!

What it does mean, though, is that Friday night will be a bloody good one. Who's up for a party?

...I am being stalked by mistletoe.

Seriously.

There is a little sprig of fresh mistletoe floating in the air by my head, and every time a bloke walks past it bashes me over the head.

The responsible person is SO dead when I get hold of them.

I was at one of my team-mates' place earlier as it's one of our portkey points home. It's now actually snowing in her living room. It was six inches deep across the shagpile carpet before it would even begin to shift under combined hexes and other spells.

Figuring out how that could possibly have happened has been interesting, if somewhat revealing about the character of certain people. Hmm.

The flat is really quiet at the moment - Caerphilly must be keeping Miles very occupied. Still, I think I've finally got my room the way I'd like it to be. The plant pots on the balcony make it a really nice touch. Plants just make a place feel more lived in and alive, I find.

Now, off for a late night fly. London isn't half as relaxing as home to fly in, but I suppose it's good for keeping you on your toes.

See, doubters, some of us are quite capable of playing in a professional manner despite having private issues. Eat that, Kenmare (sorry Ryan!). We may have lost, but we played well.

Private to: Miles
To make up for being a mopey flatmate for the past couple of weeks, I went through the whole kitchen, cleaned it from head to foot and replaced the stuff that needed replacing. I might have a shockingly complicated personal life but that doesn't mean I can't be a competent flatmate.

That was an epic hangover after Halloween, even though I didn't drink much. I should really get out of the habit of stop-starting like this.

And Merlin, I wish I didn't know about Marcus meeting Miles in the kitchen last weekend. That was more than mildly embarrassing.

Really hope I get a game soon to take my mind off these things.

Interesting that I was invited to Bryony's party when I don't know her that well, although she seems nice enough. I'd like to know the story behind that.

Public
I think I've found the disadvantage of playing for a Scottish team at this end of the season - left training soaked to the bone. Several of us had to warm up before apparating from Wigtown to go home. Still, it's a good excuse to put on warm comfy clothes and stay home now I'm done.

Guilty of all charges and life in Azkaban for both of them. The evidence that came out over the last few days was undeniable, and... well. I still don't know how to get my head round it.

If anyone needs me, I'll be finding somewhere I can get horribly drunk.

Private to: Tamsin's friends
The trial started today. I had to be there for the full reading of the charges... it was awful. The things they're accused of... they're really, really bad. I mean, obviously murder and torture was going to be bad anyway, but hearing the details nearly made me sick. I had to give memories of things that happened when I was little for the jury to look at, stuff I'd forgotten since I was about three years old... I wanted to believe it was untrue... but now...

Private to: Miles
If I'm not about the flat much this week, I've not vanished. I'm caught up with some unpleasantness at the Ministry.

Private to: Self
I hate to say it, but it was probably for the best that I didn't get to play over the weekend. With all those things on my mind I probably would have played worse than Battle did - I can't believe I ended up taking one of the Falcons home at least he's fit. Poor Miles, he was terribly shocked.
End

The weekend was a good one, and I definitely look forward to the next. This week being over I will definitely be glad to see the back of, for reasons that are a matter of public record, and when Halloween comes around I will definitely be grateful.

I think I'll spend this evening having a quiet one in my flat and listen to some of the week's highlights on the radio.

Death Eater Activity.
Muggle-baiting.
Murder.
Torture.
Kidknapping (of me as a child, apparently) - Uncle Elliott.
Attempted forced marriage of a minor (me, again).
Unauthorised use of the Obliviate hex - Aunt Cass.
Unauthorised use of the Unforgiveable curses.

That's seven different kinds of charge each. I don't think there's any way in hell I can get out of testifying in this one.

Private to Tamsin's friends
I found out where my aunt and uncle went. They're in Azkaban - I received the charge sheet this morning. The trial is due to start next Monday and will last the whole week, and it looks like I'm going to have to testify at this stage because certain charges relate to when I was under their wardship.

Seven. Each. Fucking hell.
End Private to Tamsin's friends

You know those days where you wish you'd never bothered getting out of bed? This is one of them.

Private, but Tamsin's friends can read
They're gone. They're gone? What on earth does 'gone' mean? They're supposed to be under observation, not just able to leave the hospital. Or were they taken? Why is no-one telling me anything?

This cannot be happening. It. Just. Can't.

I believe the Hogwarts Quidditch season starts today. Good luck to all!

So, having enjoyed the break in Hogsmeade it's time to find something else to occupy my time with now I'm back home in Cumbria. Precisely nine days till our next game (Falcons). Mind you, I suppose there are advantages to having the breaks, so I'll try not to moan.

So far, the autumn festival has been just gorgeous. It's been a while since I was last in Hogsmeade, before the war probably school to be honest, so being back has been lovely. It's been a reminder of just how gorgeous the Scottish countryside can be at this time of year.

Anyone else been up?

A few of us are up here for the Harpies v Magpies game. Glorious autumn day, great flying conditions and it's going to be a tough game to call, I think!

Well, the flat viewing went OK, I think we'll see soon. But an unexpected advantage... he's pretty cute.
End Private

Day off training, and it's chucking it down with rain, still. But then again, I do live in Cumbria, so it's not to be unexpected. Might cast some Impervius charms and go for a flight over Windermere or something.
